Hawaii is the true melting pot in the U.S. with many ethnicities represented in our community. Yet, many of us have lost the ability to speak our native language. I was not able to speak Korean but heard it around the house growing up. It wasn’t until I studied in Korea for a year in my college life that I really learned the language. Why is it important? Learning a language really helps you to better understand the culture of the country. Your scope of friends will expand tremendously, it can help your business, retain your cultural identity and also help others who may end up visiting that country. The more languages you speak, you open more dimensions to your life that can only help you. Many of our viewers enjoy our dramas by reading the English subtitles but if you could understand Korean, the drama could end up being twice as enjoyable as you will better understand the nuances of the language and culture. There are 23 Korean language schools in the State of Hawaii.
